APWA Endorses CGM Program
Great
news for PGMS and the grounds management profession as a whole.
The American Public Works Association (APWA) has just announced
that it will be endorsing the Certified Grounds Manager (CGM) Program
as its official certification program in grounds management.
With
26,000 members, APWA represents public works professionals in municipalities
throughout Canada and the United States. For grounds personnel working
for city, county or state agencies, the CGM designation has just
become that more important in advancing their careers. In turn,
this endorsement further illustrates the credibility and value of
the CGM program for all landscape superintendents and grounds management
professionals.
Becoming
a CGM signifies that you have met PGMS and APWAs highest
standards of grounds management through education and experience.
Being certified puts you at the top of your profession. Certification
proves that you are dedicated to your profession by expanding your
goals and continuing your professional development. It also means
that you manage your grounds maintenance operation by using organizational,
financial, and management skills. With certification, your presentations,
requests for funds and equipment, and recommendations carry more
weight.
If
you manage the grounds program for a public works agency, or work
in another industry in grounds management, make sure to find out
more about the CGM program by visiting PGMS online at http://www.pgms.org/cgm.htm.
