Gaumer Receives Grounds Management's Highest Honor:
PGMS Also Honors Two Other Members

The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) has recognized George M. Gaumer, vice president and general manager of Davey Commercial Landscape Services in Kent, Ohio with grounds management's highest honor, a 2008 Gold Medal Award. The PGMS Gold Medal Award is presented each year to an individual or entity to recognize them for outstanding and long-term achievements and/or contributions to the Green Industry. Gaumer was presented with this award at PGMS' 2008 School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO held in Louisville, Ky. October 22-25.

Gaumer, a professional in the Green Industry for over 40 years, has served as President of the Green Industry and Equipment Expo (GIE+EXPO) as well as a member of the Boards of PGMS and the American Landscape Contractors Association. He is an ISA Certified Arborist and a PLANET Certified Landscape Professional. He is also active in teaching various programs associated with tree care and in inspiring students into various professional roles in the Green Industry. He is a PLANET Trailblazer which is an industry mentoring program.

Two others were also presented with awards at the School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO. Mark Feist and Stephanie DeStefano, both of American University in Washington, D.C., were honored as the recipients of the PGMS President's Awards in recognition of their outstanding service and contributions to the Society.

The President's Award is given based on
long term service to PGMS. Both Feist and DeStefano have been PGMS members for over 10 years. They have shown their dedication to the association specifically through their leadership in the D.C. Branch. They both made significant contributions that led to the success of the PGMS DC Regional Grounds Seminar and Site Visit that took place July 17-18, 2008 in Washington, DC
