PGMS Members Profile Organizations represented in PGMS Membership Included in our membership are Sports Turf Professionals, Horticulturalists, Arborists, Irrigation Professionals, Pesticide Applicators as well as General Managers and Grounds Superintendents. Our members come from every state in the U.S. with other members hailing from Puerto Rico, Canada, Europe and Japan. For the most part, but not exclusively, the typical PGMS member is associated with an institution below: Colleges These are just some. Most sites are high-end, high-visibility grounds that pride themselves on their appearance and devote considerable resources to that end. Our member is typically the head of a grounds management responsible for everything associated with grounds care, i.e. labor, scheduling, purchasing of equipment and supplies, contracting, pesticide applications, etc. Ninety-nine percent of our members are either the people who make final decisions on purchasing or make final recommendations. The average site is 570 acres with full-time professional staff. It is customary for our members to have been with their institution for many years with little turnover. Per capita our purchasing power is enormous. Seventy percent have an annual budget of $500,000 or more with 10 percent having an annual budget of $7 million and above.
