Certificatied Grounds Manager (CGM) > Maintaining Certification
In order to maintain
the Professional Grounds Management Society certification as a Grounds
Manager (CGM), each individual is required to be accredited every
5 years by compiling no less than 50 units.
Accreditation
units are divided into two categories: Category one is classified
as Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and Category two is classified
as Professional Development Units (PDUs).
The
accreditation point system breakdown is as follows:
Continuing
Education Units (CEU's)
1.
PGMS Annual School
1
for day sessions
5 for full registration (all must be verified by PGMS and recorded
as occurs)
2.
External CEUs
a)
Conferences
1.5 for each day
(must be recorded as occurs and submitted to PGMS Headquarters
within 30 days of the event)
b) Accredited Programs
External CEUs vary
(must be recorded as occurs and copy of certificate must be
submitted to Headquarters within 30 days of the event)
c) College credits in grounds-related
or business courses
15 CEUs per semester
(must be recorded as occurs and copy of transcript must be
submitted to Headquarters within 30 days of completion)
Professional
Development Units (PDU's)
1.
Pesticide License
5
PDUs per year - Copy of pesticide license required
2.
First Aid Certificate
3
PDUs per year - Copy of certificate required
3.
Teaching courses pertaining to grounds management
15
PDUs per semester - Submit course dates and description
4.
Write an article in the PGMS Forum Newsletter

PDU per article

Speaker at an approved meeting

PDU per engagement - Submit meeting agenda

PGMS Board Service
