Philadelphia Branch Summer Field Day a Success!

Eighty-five grounds managers participated in the Philadelphia Branch Grounds Managers Summer Field Day that took place July 16 at Temple University- Ambler Campus in suburban Philadelphia. Participants toured campus with Arboretum director, Jenny Rose Carey, and learned about Temple-Ambler’s interesting history as “Pennsylvania School of Horticulture for Women” as well as exciting new curriculum and projects. In addition, “pest walks” lead by Penn State Extension Educator, Emelie Swackhamer, and former Temple horticulturist, Rudy Keller taught participants about seasonal pest problems. Penn State Extension Educator Scott Guiser wrapped up the day with a backpack sprayer calibration demonstration.

Twenty six exhibitors showcased the latest grounds management equipment.

The Philadelphia Branch of PGMS has been conducting summer field days in the metro Philly area for more than 25 years.
