North Carolina's Jamie Moore Earns
CGM Status
(Baltimore,
MD) - The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) has announced
that Jamie Moore of Winston-Salem, N.C. has become the 116th grounds
management professional to successfully complete its Certified Grounds
Manager (CGM) program. Jamie currently serves as the manager of
landscape services at the University of North Carolina School of
the Arts where he has been for the past nine years. PGMS recently
spent a few minutes getting to know Jamie.
PGMS:
How long have you been a PGMS member?
Moore: I have been a member
for approximately three years.
PGMS:
What is your current position at work? How long have you been in
that position?
Moore: I am the manager of landscape
services at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts
and have been in this position for nine years.
PGMS:
Why did you want to become a CGM?
Moore: I wanted to take my education
and experience to a higher professional level.
PGMS:
What did you think of the CGM program?
Moore: I found that the written
portion of the exam covered general information of grounds maintenance
and it was a great refresher. The open book portion was much more
involved. Generating the open book allowed me to take a meticulous
look at our campus landscaping operation. Through this experience,
we have made adjustments in how we manage our campus grounds and
it allowed us to look at our accomplishments and take pride in how
we perform as a team.
PGMS:
What advice do you have for aspiring CGMs?
Moore: Dont waste any
more time! I personally found the CGM program to inspire and motivate
me to become a more organized grounds manager.
