Branch Looks Back on Summer Field Day, The Philadelphia Branch of PGMS held its annual summer field day on Thursday July 7, 2005 at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr PA. A cool, misty overcast morning did not hinder the day's activities. By 9 a.m. nearly 100 green industry professionals and 15 grounds maintenance equipment dealers and suppliers had gather for the event. In the morning participants had a chance to tour the Bryn Mawr campus on 2 plant walks. The "Big Plant Walk" was lead by Andrew Bunting, curator at The Scott Arboretum and Dennis Kryszan, former grounds manager at Bryn Mawr. Participants got a look at the magnificent collection of mature trees on campus. The "Little Plant Walk" was led by Scott Guiser and Nancy Bosold, Penn State Extension Educators. It focused on turf topics and landscape pest. After a barbecue lunch, Dan Seward of Davey Tree gave an Air-Spade demonstration. The branch would like to thank Greg Nichols and Bryn Mawr College for hosting the event. Another big thank you goes to Philadelphia Branch Vice President Greg Fry for his many years of hard work and dedication to the branch as he departs from his position on the executive board.
